Registration

When does registration for summer camp open?

The window to join the summer camp lottery will be open from February 14 - February 23. You can join any time during that window. Joining the lottery is easy! Create an account or log into your existing CampDoc profile using our unique link on our camp page. Then "add to waitlist" for each week of camp that you are interested in. Tip: The adult creating the account is the "user", the children you want to come to camp are the "participants".

Do I have to be a member to register for camp?

No, but only members can save 5% on their tuition!

You can become a member of Audubon Vermont and the National Audubon Society with a donation of $20 or more. Consider a $35 Membership for your Family: vt.audubon.org/join 

Am I a member?

If you have made a donation of at least $20 in the last year, then you are probably a member. A quick way to tell is if you got the most recent issue of Audubon Magazine. Membership is good for 1 year, so if you renewed before registering for camp last year, its probably time to renew. But, we would be happy to check for you! How do I register for camp?

1. To enter our summer camp lottery, you must add your camper to the "waitlist" (yes, waitlist!) for each camp you want them to attend. We will notify you if you are lucky to be drawn. Applications recieved between Feb 14 and February 23 will be notified if they have a spot in camp by March 7. Entries received after February 23 will be aded to our waitlist and notified of any openings on a rolling basis.

2. To register for vacation camps and camps that are exempt from the lottery, follow these instructions:

First Time users: Follow the above link to create an account. Detailed Instructions on how to Create an Account. You do not need to complete your participants entire profile to register for camps, just what is required to add a participant.

Register each camper for Green Mountain Audubon Center, Huntington VT camps. Detailed Instructions here. You will be asked to pay the deposit now, but you can also pay the full amount due.

Your registration is not complete until you have submitted all of your paperwork, due June 1st—which requires a doctor’s signature or uploading health information. Your child will not be able to participate without this on file. The form is available in the online registration portal.

My Camper is just above or below the camp age cutoff. Can I still register them?

That’s up to you the guardian! If you feel your camper can “swing” up or down in camps, you are welcome to sign them up that way. We often break into trail groups that reflect camper’s age, ability, and interests to accommodate for cases like this. Do I need to send in a health form to come to camp?

YES! Each child that comes to an Audubon camp needs a completed health profile to participate. Our health forms are currently offline until new updates are released this spring. We will inform all users in our system when the new forms are available.

There will be a detailed questionaire that looks different than it did in past years and we also ask for either a signed health form from a physician or a copy of a recent (within 1 year) physical examination form.  You can download a form for your doctor in your camper's profile in CampDoc. There are also health questions you will need to aswer in their profile.

You will upload your health form to your child's profile in CampDoc. No more faxing to us!

Do you require vaccinations to come to camp?

Starting with the summer of 2022, Audubon requires all campers and camp staff to have completed the age-appropriate vaccine schedule recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and to submit proof in the form of a current immunization record prior to participating in any camp activity. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/vaccines-age.html

** Please note: Our local schools are not yet requiring COVID vaccination for school registration, so we are not requiring the  COVID vaccine for registration either. However, the VT Dept of Health states that:

"Vaccines are the best tool to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Vaccines help your body fight off the virus. When you are vaccinated you are much less likely to get sick and less likely to transmit the virus to others. Anyone who is not vaccinated is still vulnerable to experiencing the worst of COVID-19 and can continue spreading the virus. The more people who get vaccinated the more protected we all are against COVID-19. "

Those campers who are able to be vaccinated against COVID will help protect our immunocompromised campers and camp staff as well as the majority of campers at our Preschool Nature Camp who are under 5 years of age and still unable to get the vaccine. 

Anyone with a medical exemption to immunization must submit documentation sufficiently in advance of the camp start date from a Physician (MD or DO) or a Pediatric/Family Practice Advanced Practice Nurse (ARNP or PNP) that describes the reason for the exemption. We will also accept the state's waivers for families with religious or medical exemptions.  In those instances, you will upload your signed waiver into your camper's profile.

I missed the lottery window! What should I do???

You should add your camper to the waitlists of the camps in which you are interested following the registration steps above. Campers are drawn from waitlists regularly throughout the summer. However, we cannot tell you what your chances are of being selected or how far you are on the list. We appreciate your understanding of this.

Did we get into camp?

On March 7 we will start moving campers into camp slots. User's will get notification that there has been a change to their account if you are selected from the lottery. You can check which camps by logging into your account. Registration status that says "waitlist" means you are still on the waitlist. If you have camps listed under "upcoming" and a balance due, you're in!

Are siblings kept together?

We try our best to keep households together, but we cannot guarantee that siblings will get into the same week of camp, especially if they are not in the same age bracket.  
The best bet is to be sure that the same user account has registered all kids so we can see that those campers are from the same household.

Payment

Do I have to pay in full to register?

Lottery. No. There is no fee to apply for the lottery or waitlists. If you are offered a spot at camp from the lottery you will have until March 23rd to pay a 30% deposit to secure your space. You may choose to pay more than this.

Vacation and exempt camps. A minimum of a 30% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of reigstration for camps that are exempt from the lottery. You can also choose to pay more than this.

Camp balances must be paid down by April 21st or families forfeit their spot and deposit. If you need more time to pay, please call our office to set up a payment plan.

Note: CampDoc does not automatically charge your credit card. You are responsible for making payments on time in CampDoc.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes we do! You can apply for scholarship funding or to establish a payment plan when you are accepted into camp. 
 

How much does camp cost?

Prices vary depending on the particiular camp, but most full day camps are $300 for the week. You can see full camp descriptions and non-member prices on the Preschool Nature Camp and Ecology Day Camp pages.

What is your cancellation policy?

• • If you do not want a space you were awarded in the lottery, please submit a cancellation request. If we cancel for you because you did not make a deposit by the deadline, we will charge a $35 administrative fee to process the cancellation for you.
  • If Audubon cancels a camp we will provide full refunds of payment or you will have the opportunity to donate your funds. Refunds will NOT be issued due to cancellations outside of our control, including but not limited to excessive heat, excessive cold, flooding events, snowstorms, or illness outbreaks.
  • If you need to cancel, please submit a cancellation request through CampDoc. We will refund you as follows:
    •  If you are accepted into a camp from the lottery draw on March 7, you will have 2 weeks to cancel for no fee if you do not want those spaces.
    • Cancellations made between 3/24 and 4/1 will be refunded payments that exceed the non-refundable deposit.
    • Cancellations made at least 4 weeks before program start date will be refunded 50% of the tuition fee.
    • Cancellations made at least 2 weeks before a program start date will be refunded 30% of the tuition fee.
    • Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before a program start date will be refunded 10% of the tuition fee.
• Because waitlist spots often come available at the last minute, we ask that families who take these spots commit to coming. After 24 hours of accepting the space, payment is expected, after which point you will be held to the cancellation policy above, regardless of when you accepted the camp space.

Programs and Logistics

I have a teenager (wait, that isn't a question).

Teenagers are great! : We would love for them to apply to be a PAID Counselor-in-Training (CIT)! CITs help staff and work hands-on with children all summer. CITs must be able to commit to the mandatory dates and rules of the program. Learn more about the CIT program

Do you swim at camp?

No, we do not have lifeguards on duty so we do not swim at Audubon. At the Audubon Center we often visit the river and brook when it is safe to do so to cool off. We go in up to our shins (top of boots). If a camper wants to go shin deep and then sit, we are ok with that as long as faces and heads stay out of the water. Because of this, it is often helpful to bring waterclothes or a change of clothes.

We require campers to wear shoes while in the water. Sandals, watershoes, or old sneakers are all fine.

Do you offer transporation?

Unfortunately we do not have our own vehicles and do not offer transporation with the exception of our one camp that has a field trip. 

However, we do maintain a list of people interested in carpooling and will share that list with everyone on it. You can add yourself to that list during the registration process.

What is the timing of camp?

Preschool camp Half-day: 9am-12pm --> required for all 3 year old campers, optional for other preschool campers.

Preschool Camp Full day: 9am-4pm

Ecology Day camp: 9am-4pm

NEW: All camps end at 3:30 on Fridays! Join us at 3 pm for closing circle before going home a little early on Fridays.

Pre-care: 8:15am-9am for an additional $10/child/day. Pre-care drop off is only available at 8:15 am or wait for regular drop-off at 8:45am. We are no longer offering rolling drop-off for pre-care.

 All children must be signed in and out by a pre-listed adult.

Are you nut free?

We do not have a blanket "no nuts" rule. However, if we have a child attending with a severe allergy or several campers with a nut allergy, we will inform all attendees not to bring nuts for that week of camp.

Do Preschool campers take naps?

We do not take naps at camp, but do take a daily "hibernation" break when we slow down, sit in the shade, and give our bodies a chance to rest from all the running, hiking, and playing. We often read books or color during this time. 

If your camper still thrives with nap time, consider half-day camp for them (9am-Noon). 

All 3 year old campers will be in half-day camp from 9am-Noon.
