Preschool Nature Camp July 21-25

This week we got our boots on because it was a wet one! We found ourselves at the water’s edge as we visited all the wonderful watery worlds of Audubon. We took a close-up look at the plants and animals that live in the water and played in the mud.

Monday morning we started to learn about some of the spaces and critters of Audubon. We turned a CIT into a frog and learned all about the parts of a frog. We enjoyed a wet and fun water relay race, and then hiked up to Mossy Rocks to explore that damp area. In the afternoon we got to experiment and find out what items sink in water and which float. We found hidden frogs in the garden as well as some salamanders at Forest Camp. Of course thr day was also filled with field games and smiles.

Tuesday we started our daily adventures early with a hike down to Beaver Pond. There we learned about the animals and plants that live there. We got to explore the pond and try and catch some of the critters, like frogs, salamanders, and crayfish. In the afternoon we learned about Beavers and enjoyed turning a CIT into a beaver. Then we got to be beavers ourselves and build dams.

Wednesday was MUD DAY! Oh did we get messy on this day. We played and explored in the mud kitchen, we then got even messier, and mud painted some artwork. We also enjoyed making leaf prints in mud and painting on leaves too. To cool off in the afternoon we played cross the rainbow in the backyard.

Thursday focused on a topic we ended on the day before, Rainbows! We learned about rainbows and colors. We went on a hidden color hike where the last color we needed to find was purple, we didn’t find it in the garden, but when we got to Mossy Rocks purple was there waiting for us. We did some watercolor painting at Mossy Rocks too.

Friday is our final day of camp for the week. We went on a water parade and hiked all the way to Beaver Pond again! We also learned about the different parts of a flower and enjoyed making rain sticks to welcome the rain that we were having throughout the day. With our adults at closing circle, we all got to plant and take how a pot with seeds to water it and continue to watch it grow.

What a wonderful, wet, and wild week!
