LGBTQA+ hikers are gathering in December to explore the trails of Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington. More than 4 miles of trails wind through 284 acres of Burlington's Intervale. The Winooski Valley Park District land features "numerous wildlife species, an elevated boardwalk through a cattail marsh, and several miles of trails along the river and through floodplain forests." The homestead land is also a part of Burlington Wildway's newly-opened Intervale Wildway Trail. We will have plenty of options for the length, direction, and difficulty of our adventure. Johnny Chagnon of the Pride Center of Vermont and Gwendolyn Causer of Audubon Vermont will co-lead the hike to provide birding, botany, hiking, and tracking tidbits. After our hike we'll warm up with beverages at Scout & Co. on North Avenue.
Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at an easy pace and will cover less than 4 miles. We are very flexible about the trails we choose based upon the needs of the group. Most trails are packed dirt and/or woodchips. If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at firstname.lastname@example.org.
