Create ideal habitat for the birds and the bees in your garden. Join Gwendolyn Causer at Red Wagon Plants for an early-season gardening workshop and birding outing.

To survive, both birds and pollinators need native plants and the insects that have co-evolved with them. Bird and bee friendly gardening provides food and shelter, saves water, and fights climate change. We’ll focus on getting early-season blooms into your garden and think ahead to providing food in every season for wildlife. We’ll talk about Audubon’s Plants for Birds database and have a conversation about the power of native plants to help grow a better world for birds and bees.

This is also a birding event! We will use both sight and sound to witness our avian neighbors around the nursery, observing their behavior as they return from their migration journey and establish their breeding territories.

Gwendolyn has been teaching environmental education programs with Audubon Vermont since 2005. Gwendolyn’s first love in nature is botany and she does most of her birding by ear. She’s excited to be a part of launching Audubon’s new Bird and Bee Friendly Farming project. She is passionate about creating equitable access to nature for communities and individuals not traditionally included in the environmental movement. Audubon Vermont's Mission is to protect birds, wildlife and their habitat through engaging people of all ages in education, conservation, stewardship and action.
