Owl eyes, deer ears, raccoon paws, oh my! We used our five senses to discover the wonders of the outdoors and earned our Nature Detective badge as we explored the woods, fields, and more at Audubon this week.
Monday morning we spent getting to know each other and our space. We went on a scavenger hunt which took us up to Mossy Rocks where we made homes for insects. In the heat of the afternoon, we stayed cool with some water games in the back yard.
Tuesday morning, we started right away with hiking down to Peeper Pond and explore the field and this awesome space. We heard and saw birds around the field and investigated the grasses too. In the afternoon we enjoyed a puppet show and then went on a critter search in the backyard and found insects around the garden. After we found our critters, we enjoyed a snack of worms and dirt!
Wednesday morning we made our own binoculars out of toilet paper tubes! We took them down to Beaver Pond and used them to help us see what was there. We also got to learn how to catch the critters in the pond and identify them too. In the afternoon we enjoyed an obstacle course and made paint handprint ducks.
Thursday morning we enjoyed making leaf prints before we journeyed down to the Sherman Hollow Brook and enjoyed our time down there. In the afternoon we did some bird watching and walked to Forest Camp where we made bird nests, talked about tracking and then ended with making pinecone bird feeders.
Friday was our last of camp for this week. We made leaf crowns that we wore on our hike down to the River! In the afternoon we enjoyed a beaver themed puppet show, then dressed a beaver, and made our very own rivers!
We had such a fun week!
