Winter Wilderness Survival Skills Workshop

If you found yourself alone in the woods, would you have what it takes to survive? In this 3.5 hour program participants will obtain shelter, fire, and food using natural surroundings and common resources on hand. Lessons will be hands-on and interactive, utilizing the Green Mountain Audubon Center's several acres of rich woodlands. You can also expect to enjoy a treat by the fire. Registration is required. Upon registration you will receive an email with forms that must be completed prior to the program.

Please make sure your are dressed for cold weather. Bring a water bottle, snack, and a positive attitude! 

Participants will learn how to:

  • Build a natural shelter
  • Start fire by friction using a bow drill
  • Create traps for small mammals
    • Note: We will not be capturing or harming any live animals or promoting that attendees try to trap animals in their yards/schools/etc after completing this program. Each attendee will receive guidelines from Vermont Fish and Wildlife on trapping permits and safety.

Age: 11-16 years old 

Cost: Pay what you can model with a suggested price of $25-30 per person.
