It is so wonderful to have our Forest Playschool back for the year. We cannot wait to explore all of Audubon through Fall, Winter, and Spring. We had a warm first day back, but that didn’t stop us from having the best day. As our friends arrived we picked out our cubby and got to decorate our name tag! Then we journeyed outside to find 26 hidden monarch butterflies.
After we found all our butterflies we sat down and introduced ourselves. We then talked about how we will be safe at Audubon and the rules we need to follow to have fun. Eve and I lead out Morning Meeting, each week one student gets to plan our day, but to demonstrate our teachers did it. We then enjoyed snack time with a story about butterflies.
Next it was time for a small walk to Forest Camp. Here we explored the woods, saw some critters, and played in the mud kitchen. On Wednesday we turned over a few logs and some incredible red backed salamanders! It was wonderful seeing everyone play together and get to know one another. We enjoyed lunch at Forest Camp too.
Before we knew it, it was time to go! We ended with sharing our favorite part of the day and then met our adults for pick up!
Follow this link to learn more about the different reptiles and amphibians that live in Vermont! At home you can even submit amphibian and reptile sighting for them to keep track of. It’s important for us to know where these critters are and how their habits may be changing.
