Preschool Programs

Sunny September

Week 3 September 20th and 22nd

We certainly enjoyed the sunshine for our preschool programs this week after a rainy start! It’s around the time of year when salamanders will return to the forest after the breeding season, so in honor of their movement, we spent our mornings searching for 20 yellow spotted salamanders. We continued working on names this morning during our opening circle and are doing a great job so far.

On Wednesday, our first morning meeting leader of the year did a great job! He decided to spend the morning at forest camp. We had lots of fun playing in the mud kitchen, hunting for caterpillars, and pretending to collect sap from trees with our sap sucking machines (sticks)! We ate lunch at Forest Camp while David and I read two stories. After lunch, we had a little bit of playtime in the front yard before ending our day with a bird walk. We saw a gray and white feather, a robin, and a nuthatch! Then it was time for Thank You Circle and pickup.

On Friday, our morning meeting leader had big plans for us! We started our day by adventuring over to forest camp, where we climbed lots of trees, practiced our gymnastics, searched for salamanders, and played in the mud kitchen. We enjoyed lunch at forest camp and then headed back to the front yard for a great game of freeze tag in the sunshine. Eve joined us today for their last day. We’ve loved having her here this year and will miss her greatly, but we know they’ll be back to visit soon!
