Spring has fully sprung. It's wonderful to see all of the changes in just a weeks time, all of the fiddleheads are now fully grown ferns, the grass is even greener, and all the trees are leafing out. There is more to spring than just new growth, but some of our migrated friends come back! In the morning, we needed to find 28 chickadees! Even though chickadees stay in Vermont all year long, it was a great reminder of how hardy and strong these tiny feathery friends are.

Our Wednesday morning meeting leader planned an amazing day! We journeyed down to Peeper Pond and spent some time listen to the birds around us. We heard Red-winger Blackbirds, saw Tree Swallows and so much more. We also got to see 3 frogs: 2 Bullfrogs and 1 Green frog! At the pond many of us enjoyed watching the birds fly around us. Other friends enjoyed running around playing tag with each other. The rain started to come down on us signaling that it would be a good time to leave the pond and hike back to the barn. After lunch we enjoyed coloring in some May coloring pages, many of us colored in the bird on the page as a bird we had seen during the day. To end our day we played tag, hide and seek, kitty catchers, and pirate ship in the backyard!

On Friday we explored and hiked around Audubon’s trails. We hiked all the way up to Look Out Rock where our view was rather foggy. We spent a few moments listening to the sounds around us and then shared out one sound we heard during our quiet moment. Some friends shared they heard a bird call, others the sound of cars on the road, and a few heard the wind through the leaves on the ground and fresh leaves growing on the trees. We then enjoyed some play time in the backyard before lunch. Some of use build fairy houses, others played on our pirate ship, and a few played hide and seek and tag! It was a wonderful day to be outside.
