Hiking, Playing, and Fire building

September 13, 2019

Emily had some “butterflies” escape from the education barn in the morning, and as we arrived it was our job to search the front yard for all of the butterflies we could find.  Don’t worry, we found them all!

We had some friends join us that weren’t here the first week, so we went around and shared our names once more. Sarah, our new AmeriCorps Member, join us fro her second day at Audubon will be with us this entire year!

We all planned our day and were all able to voice our own opinions.  Many of us wanted to visit Forest Camp again and play with one another.  A few friends wanted to go on a hike and explore somewhere else around Audubon. So, we did it all!

When we got to Forest Camp we made a nice warm fire, enjoyed our snack and a story, and then began our free playtime. After lunch we put out our fire, talked more about fire safety and why we always put out our fires, and began our hike through our garden and into the woods on our arboretum trail.

The second half of hike we turned it into a silent hike!  We tried to walk as quietly as possible and listen to the nature around us.

Sadly, the day came to an end and we finished with our thank you circle and shared our favorite part of the day!
