Happy Fall! It was so amazing that we got to celebrate the first day of fall, the Autumnal equinox together at Audubon!
Upon arrival we enjoyed some free play and explore time. Some of us worked on some forts we started at the end of the day last week, others worked on leaf piles and exploring the forest floor.
We planned our day at Morning Meeting, enjoyed snack and many friends had something share during Share and Tell time. We had one friend who shared a photo of their kitten, another friend show us their amazing watch that also has a compass, and then two friends brought in their gem collection. It is always wonderful to see and hear that is important to everyone in this group and learn more about each other too.
We journeyed to Beaver Pond where we found a great feather right as we walked in.
We then saw some bird tracks by the water. Do you know what they are?
As we were exploring, some of us looked out and counted over 20 painted turtles basking on the logs in the water warming up their bodies from the sunrays. We then were surprised when there was a turtle on a log right in front of us with a frog too. Can you spot the turtle and frog?
At the Sherman Hollow Brook and explored and climbed around the rocks. We were startled by a frog jumping into the water right next to us too!
Before we knew it our stomachs were rumbling and we knew we needed to head back to lunch. We read more of Hoot and learned about burrowing owls and are starting to see what this book is about. We ended our day playing some games and exploring in the woods.
