Join Audubon Vermont for a Guided Bird Walk at Merck Forest & Farmland Center (Rupert, VT)

Step into the forests and fields of Merck Forest & Farmland Center during the peak of the summer breeding season! Join Audubon Vermont for an exciting, guided field exploration focused on the birds that thrive in this beautiful landscape. This is a fantastic opportunity for landowners, especially, to learn how they can enhance bird habitats on their properties, both big and small.

What to Expect:

  • Explore the diverse habitats around Merck Forest, including forest trails, farm areas, and forestry projects designed to improve bird habitat.
  • Discover and identify birds in their natural environment—dozens of species are to be found!
  • Learn about bird-friendly habitat concepts and practices that you can apply on your own lands.
  • Engage with Audubon ecologists to learn more about our technical assistance services for landowners, with opportunities for personalized technical assistance for forest landowners in Vermont.

Details:

  • Dates: Friday, June 6th, Saturday, June 14th, Saturday, June 21st, Saturday, June 28th.
  • Time: 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM
  • Location: Merck Forest & Farmland Center (MFFC; 3270 VT-315, Rupert, VT 05768), at the visitor center
  • Registration: Open to 15 participants per walk. Please use this link to register. Use the drop down menus to select a ticket for each participant you are registering for your desired walk date. 
  • Cost: Suggested $10 donation to MFFC per participant at time of walk (scholarships available upon request)
  • Binoculars/Field Guides: Limited supply available- encouraged to bring your own
  • Walking Terrain: Relatively even ground, up to 1.5 miles

This series is part of an ongoing effort to engage landowners and support the conservation of bird-friendly habitats in the Merck Forest area.
