Our final day started off unlike any other.  The sun was shining and there was a nice breeze in the air, so Debbie and Emily opened up the doors to the barn.  A little hummingbird friend took this as an invitation to come inside and join us at Forest Preschool!  Our bird friend wanted to get out but was stuck trying to fly out the skylights. With the help of our brilliant Preschoolers guiding us, Emily and Debbie were able to get the Hummingbird away from the sky lights and to the front window.  Emily then got on our ladder and the preschoolers used their words to help tell Emily where our bird friend was. It got very tired so we let it rest and moved onto our morning meeting. [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"11821","attributes":{"class":"media-image alignnone size-full wp-image-2639","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","width":"4608","height":"3456","alt":"DSCN2468"}}]] It was a mellow day at morning meeting.  We were all feeling a little sad knowing that this was going to be our last day and next year some of our friends wouldn't be joining us.  We shared what we were looking forward to for the day and talk about what we wanted to do. https://flic.kr/p/VibW11 Before moving to forest camp we played What Time Is It Mr. Fox in the garden field.  Everyone had a chance to be Mr. Fox and run around!  We sure do love to count! We spent our time outside.  We brought our lunches  and got geared up to spend the rest of the day in the woods. https://flic.kr/p/UXzKKy Since we were having marshmallows with our families later in the afternoon, we needed to make a fire.  We spent the first part of our day looking for dry chickadee perch and mouse tail sized sticks for Emily to start our fire! We collected so many! After we collected our fire sticks we needed to find one more important stick, a marshmallow roasting stick!  This stick needed to be a little longer than our arms so that we could stand a nice distance away from the fire, but also not too long. On our way to finding our roasting sticks, someone spotted something interesting.  Possibly an owl pellet!  Debbie examined it, we saw bones and fur which is a key sign it was a owl pellet, but weren't to sure. We explored and cleaned up forest camp for when our families were going to come and visit.  When our families did come, we had a sharing circle expressing how much we enjoy Forest Preschool and learning about nature.  Our families made wonderfully gooey marshmallows and while we were eating Debbie lead our students in one final story.  This story was about a group of 12 students and 2 teachers that made a bonfire for 1 million of their friends to roast marshmallows and share their fun stories.   It was a wonderful day to end on.  Debbie and Emily are so grateful for the amazing times we have had this year and all of the smiles.
