This week we got out with our binoculars and explored Audubon's forests, fields, and ponds in search of our avian neighbors. The bird revelry also included games, a daily bird walks, and bird songs to celebrate what makes a bird a bird and what makes them fascinating to us. We had so much fun learning so many different parts and aspects of birds!
Monday we got to know each other and birds. it was a little wet to start but that didn't stop us. We made some bird art and learned some greaat bird songs with a super fun game. We of course went on a bird walk in our groups around Audubon and started our weeks list of bird spottings.
Tuesday was a beautiful day! We made HUGE bird nests, played capture the egg and explored the Sherman Hollow Brook. We also went on bird walks with our groups and learned more bird songs along the way.
Wednesday was a special day spent at the Birds of Vermont Museum just up the road from camp. The campers were able to complete a scavenger hunt while exploring different beaks, feathers, and species of birds made out of wood carvings! After lunch the campers explored the brook where they found different micro-invertebrates.
Thursday we enjoyed some great bird crafts, made edible bird nests, and played so many fun games! We also explored and built fires too!
Friday was so much fun! We played an Audubon Favorite, Life and Death in the Forest and explored more about birds like what they eat and where they live.
We had such an incredible first week of camp!
