This week, we welcomed the warm and sunny weather after a rather cloudy winter. We searched high and low for little chickadees in the front yard. Even with the snow, we were able to find all of them with no problem! I am always so impressed at how well our students are able to identify different birds, especially chickadees and woodpeckers! The books we read this week were: How to Solve a Problem: The Rise (and falls) of a Rock Climbing Champion by Ashima Shiraishi, Bats by Gail Gibbons, and Ten Rowdy Ravens by Susan Ewing.
On Wednesday, our morning meeting leader planned a day full of fun! We had snack and a story in the front yard before getting ready to go on a big hike. We hiked down to peeper pond and played in the amazing sunshine. We got to see the tractor tracks and some buckets laid out for our tapping day tomorrow. We also checked out an empty bluebird box in the field. It was then time to hike back up for lunch at forest camp. After lunch, we had some play time in the mud kitchen, had thank you circle, and then pick up!
On Friday, our morning meeting leader planned lots of fun playtime! We loved playing in the backyard, where we jumped off of the stone wall into a large puddle! There was lots of splashing and laughing from all of our students. We also went fishing in the puddles, and even caught a few fish! A few of our friends built an amazing winter fairy house, and others played in the snow with some sticks. We then played one of our favorite field games, sharks and minnows! we also did some free coloring in the front yard and filled the bird feeders. Before we knew it, it was time for thank you circle and pick up!
