Owls, Ponds, and Brooks! Oh MY!

February 7 2023

To build off our snow shelter skills in the morning we needed to build a snow fort for a little camo critter, and then work together to build a village. It was awesome to see everyone working together and sharing their ideas.  While this was happening I spotted a Barred Owl watching the field and enjoying the sunshine!

We went back to Beaver pond to see if there were more tracks. Some of us found some more and we investigated and followed them through the woods again. Others made really fun and creative snow designs on the pond. We all really enjoyed the sunshine.

In the afternoon, after we played a field game, we went for some brook exploration. We talked about how the ice on the brook would be thinner do to the moving water below and that we needed to be extra careful. We enjoyed the cool ice formations, and had a fun time racing sticks down the brook, under the ice making guesses of who would come out first.
