Frozen Exploration

Week 2: January 12, 2022

It was a cold day, we had planned for a lot of hiking!

We all arrived and wrote in our journals about our object. Many of us drew pictures or wrote a couple of sentences explaining what we saw. After we finished we had morning meeting and planned out day. To warm up we were going to hike up to the education barn for snack.

We began on our hike and finally got to the barn. We enjoyed snack and a few stories about our winter world.

We then hiked down to Beaver Pond for our exploration. Before we got there, Ciara and I thought it would be cool to bushwhack to the pond and enter it from a new space. It is so amazing to see the pond and enter from a place that no one does. It’s also a little disorienting too, when we normally are on land looking out at the pond, being on it can be a little confusing.

On the pond we played many games, like hangman and tic tac toe, drew some snow pictures, and event found some animal signs and tracks. We also played poison dart frog on the ice! It was a lot of fun.

We then had to hike all the way back to the barn for lunch where we enjoyed a couple books on winter. We then had to hike all the way back to the clubhouse. Once there we enjoyed Thank You Circle and then had free explore time!
