Wilderness skills week! We learned all about survival skills in the wilderness and put them to the test during our week of exploration.
On Monday, we learned how to use a compass and set out to explore the Audubon grounds. After a hot afternoon, we oriented ourselves to the river to stay cool.
We built forts for shelter and learned about the brook’s watershed while exploring for critters.
Thursday morning we built fires! We used our cooking skills to roast some delicious orange muffins over the campfire. We finished reading the book Holes and used the afternoon to catch frogs, minnows, and all sorts of other water critters in the river.
We finished the week with a talent show and learned some of the most essential survival skills: soap carving and journaling.
