This week, we celebrated Thanksgiving early by searching for 30 turkeys in the front yard. Our students have really been practicing their observation skills and are all becoming excellent finders! As it continues to get colder and mittens become a necessity, we will continue to work on our dexterity with our mittens.
On Wednesday, our morning meeting leader celebrated his coming birthday by planning a fun filled day! We enjoyed snack and a story at forest camp before hiking all the way down to the brook. Once at the brook, we enjoyed some free play time. We went fishing with our sticks, threw lots of stones into the water, and listened to the brook babble. We ate lunch on the bank and enjoyed a few stories, before packing up our things and hiking back up to the barn. We are doing a fantastic job hiking and have improved greatly! We finished the day with a great thank you circle and then pick up.
On Friday, our morning meeting leader decided to stay close to the center! We started with snack and a story at the picnic tables by the barn, before moving to the backyard to play quite a few rounds of “What Time is it Mr. Fox?”. We played in the sunshine and unusually warm weather before heading in to forest camp. While there, we made yummy treats in the mud kitchen, rode on our fallen log motorcycles, made leaf piles to jump in, and plowed the leaves with our big plow trucks (sticks). We finished our day with free play in the front yard before thank you circle and pick up.
We hope that you all are surrounded by friends and family next week! We are thankful for each of you and especially our fantastic students. Happy Thanksgiving!
