Spring at Beaver Pond

Week 14: April 13, 2022

It is spring time and Beaver Pond is coming alive! The mud is nice and squishy, great for digging and playing in or building with. With the warm weather and the rainy days the amphibians are starting to make their way outside and venture to their ponds to mate and lay eggs for the season. We even found a few egg sacks today! Super cool looking and slimy too. We observed the pond and counted how many eastern newts we could see, 20 in total, some of them were very sneaky and pretty camoflaged in.  We made a shop in the Beaver Blind selling "seaweed" and they seemed to make quiet a profit.

We are so excited to see what spring has in store for us at Audubon!
