This week, we welcomed in late November with a day centered around what animals do when the winter comes. We searched for 32 hibernating black bears in the front yard for our opening activity. The bears were bear-y good at hiding, but they were no match for our super finder students.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed some free play in the snow after finding all of the bears. Then, our morning meeting leader planned a great day for us! We first headed to forest camp for snack, where we read a story about winter’s arrival. After snack, we enjoyed play time in the back yard. We turned our pirate ship into a “pickle machine” that transforms our friends into pickles, played in the snow, and even got to go sledding! We are so excited to be able to have fun in the snow. After, we headed back to forest camp for lunch, where we read a story on migration and another one on hibernation. We finished our day with a movement filled thank you circle and pick up!
On Friday, we were sooo happy about the snow! We made a fire at snack time and kept it going all day as we played at Forest Camp. Many of us made snow kitchen treats, we learned how to make a snow ball, and we made two huge snowballs (one of which we later destroyed). The snow was wet and great for packing and making fun shapes. We ended our time playing games in the backyard before we shared our favorite part of the day. Yay for snow!
