Green Mountain Audubon Center Summer Camps Cancelled

A letter from our Camp Director and What You Need to Know

This is difficult for me to write, but in order to keep our campers, high school CITs, staff, and summer visitors to the Green Mountain Audubon Center safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to cancel our summer camp programming as scheduled. Thank you for your care and commitment as we work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. We truly appreciate your support of our programs.

This decision was not made lightly– summer camp is our favorite time of year. In making this decision we could not imagine running programs “as usual” when the health and safety of your children and family as well as Audubon staff, interns, and volunteers would be at risk.

Know that we look forward to sharing the joy of birds and the outdoors with you online for now, and at Audubon Vermont as soon as it is safe to do so. I am hopeful that we will be able to offer some sort of camp programing, and provide much needed childcare, after the governor eases restrictions and we get a sense of what that might look like. We’ll be in touch again as soon as we know when and how we are able to reopen.

For up to date information, including how to get a refund or make a donation to our camps, please visit our camp page vt.audubon.org/camp

Be well, stay safe, and please be in touch.  I am looking forward to connecting with you soon.

We Are Here for You (Virtually):

We know that you and our campers need Audubon’s support now more than ever. Here are a few resources we have put together to help you and the children you care for continue to find awe and inspiration in nature together indoors and near your own homes.

Audubon from Home is a collection of lessons, activities, webinars, and videos that Emily, Sarah, Gwen, Rae, Mady, Karen, and I have been creating 5 days per week, every week. The spirit of our local Audubon field trips and preschool programs are in those lessons with the hope that our curriculum can continue to support your child’s learning with outdoor education. Audubon from Home

Audubon for Kids / Audubon Para Niños is an online space from National Audubon Society. Available in both English and Spanish, it provides new, fun activities each week, including nature activities, games, quizzes, DIY projects, and more from across the entire Audubon network.

Audubon Virtual Events: Audubon is hosting many interactive web-based educational programs for kids and kids at heart. Click here to bookmark the Audubon Events calendar, so you can plan to join us in advance. Please share widely with family and friends. Local events from Audubon Vermont can also be found there as well as on our website vt.audubon.org
