Great News for Funding Decisions

The no-listing rider for the Greater Sage-Grouse has been removed from this year’s draft Senate appropriations bills.

Great News: The draft Senate appropriations bill was released and it looks good! It doesn’t include the longstanding anti-science rider that prevents U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service from considering whether Greater Sage-Grouse should be listed under Endangered Species Act.

Thank you Senator Patrick Leahy and Senator Jeff Merkley for standing up for the Greater Sage-Grouse by allowing decisions about its future to be made using science, not politics.

Removing the no-listing rider will not only help the bird but also sends an important message that federal appropriations bills are the wrong place to make decisions about whether species are imperiled anywhere, whether sagebrush country or the Green Mountains.
