Animal Home Scavenger Hunt

What animals live in your neighborhood?

What is a home? What are some homes that wild animals use? Many animals build their own homes. Just like our homes, animal homes are used for different functions such as: protection from predators and weather, a safe place to raise their young, and a place where they can sleep. Some animals hibernate and spend the whole winter in their homes until spring arrives. What kind of animal homes might we find in Vermont?

For this activity you will need:

  • A scavenger hunt card (PDF attached below for printing)
  • Writing utensil

This activity can be done from ANYWHERE, including your window! The trees are a great place to start. Maybe you'll find a bird's nest, wasp nest or oak gall!

Put an "X" next to each home you find. If you find something exciting, share it with us! Tag @audubonvermont on Facebook or Instagram

Pair this scavenger hunt with our puppet show where a beaver and squirrel talk about animal homes on YouTube!
