This week was all about the amazing animals found at Audubon Vermont! We discovered salamanders, beavers, birds, frogs, and more!
On Monday, we played a game that encouraged us to think about our preferences for different animals and why we like some but dislike others. We then made collages by cutting out pictures of our favorite animals! On Tuesday, we learned about the different part of a bird and then got to disect owl pellets! We found lots of awesome mouse bones in our pellets, including an almost whole skeleton! On Wednesday we trekked down to Peeper Pond to search for grasshoppers and other insects. Then we headed over to forest camp to search for salamanders and build our own bug homes.
On Thursday, we hiked down to beaver pond where we scooped for frogs, tadpoles and newts! We loved getting to play in the mud and explore the pond. We spent the hot afternoon playing in the hose in the backyard to cool off. We finished our week with a trip to the brook, where we built dams, skipped rocks, and looked for critters.
We had such a fun week learning about lots of the different animals that can be found in Vermont!
