Fall has arrived! Audubon Vermont is slowly becoming a picturesque fall scene as the leaves turn colors and the temperature drops. We spent our chilly mornings searching for 28 moose in the backyard! Even with the bigger space, our students were master moose finders, and found them all very quickly. We continue to work on names and explore new spaces around Audubon.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed snack and a story in the backyard after morning meeting. This was a great change of scenery and helped us practice our motor control with our snacks on our lap. After snack, we headed over to forest camp with our lunches for some play time. We played in the mud kitchen, chipped away at the snag (dead standing tree), searched for critters, and had some amazing imagination play. After a morning full of playtime, we were ready for a delicious lunch. We read two stories, one about a box turtle and the other about the colors of fall. Once we finished up lunch, we headed back to the front yard for thank you circle and a quick game of “What time is it, Mr. Fox?”.
On Friday, we searched for our morning critter as usual, but today we found an awesome little toadlet! It was a great way to start our fun Filled day. Our morning meeting leader decided to have morning snack at forest camp, so we grabbed all of our things and headed there after morning meeting wrapped up. After snack, we enjoyed some playtime at forest camp. We rode on our fallen log jet skis, baked lots of yummy treats in the mud kitchen, and took turns climbing our favorite tree. We ate lunch in our stump circle at forest camp and enjoyed our stories. After lunch, we returned our things to the barn and headed over to the backyard for a great game of “Sharks and Minnows” before closing with thank you circle.
