The Young Birders Outings aim to bring like-minded teenagers with a passion for birds and nature together to learn from and explore birding hotspots around Vermont! These events are a for birders ages 12-18 with varying interest and experience in birding. Each month we will visit a new birding destination and occasionally be joined by conservation professionals managing those areas for birds. 

Join us in July to explore Red Rocks Park in South Burlington! Red Rocks is a beautiful, 100-acre park that boasts beautiful views of Lake Champlain, Shelburne Bay, and the Adirondack. The trail loops through stands of hemlock and pine, as well as small wetland areas and hardwood forest. It is a great area to listen for small woodsy warblers, Bard Owls, and other song birds! 

Trail information: We will walk about two miles on wide trails with crushed rock tread. There are a few areas with rolling terrain or a hill, but we can adjust our route as needed if we prefer flat terrain. 

Audubon will provide binoculars and bird guides to anyone who may need to borrow them.

Registration is required. Each ticket is $15, however there are free tickets for anyone who feels the cost is a barrier to participation. 

This trip is designed for young birders, 12-18. If parents would like to attend  we reccommend buying another ticket or making a donation. We welcome birders of all skill levels. Loaner binoculars are available for participants.
