Beyond syrup, sugarbushes provide habitat for many important animal species, including a wide variety of bird species. Thanks to Audubon Vermont’s Bird-Friendly Maple Program, maple producers can get help managing their sugarbush for bird-friendly features and consumers can know that their syrup comes from a forest that provides birds with great places to forage, hide, and raise their young. 

Come see what a bird-friendly sugarbush looks like from the ground up. We’ll tour Barred Woods Maple in Belvedere to see how they run their operation while providing quality bird habitat. We’ll talk about how the forest is managed and of course keep our eyes out for birds. As long as the weather cooperates, we’ll even do some bird banding to see birds up close!
