Have you ever considered that perhaps cutting trees in a forest may actually benefit a forest's ecosystem?  Are you curious about what makes a forest healthy and what current science tells us we can do to maintain and restore old growth(like) forests to Vermont?   If so, then consider joining Tim Duclos, Conservation Ecologist at Audubon Vermont and manager of the Woods, Wildlife and Warblers program for a 1.5 hour forest tour to see an active logging operation designed to create future old growth forest conditions for the benefit of birds and greater biodiversity, climate change resiliency, and carbon sequestration.  This walk is open to any and all with interest in how, in some cases and according to scientific consensus, carefully designed timber harvests can actually help the forest ecosystem become stronger in Vermont.

No advanced registration is required- rather, look for a day-of sign-up sheet at the Audubon Vermont and the Woods, Wildlife and Warblers table during Harvest Fest.  We will assemble at 12:30 and venture on from there. The walk will cover roughly 2 miles, out and back, along the McCormic Trail, beginning and ending at the Sap house.  We will take our time and explore many aspects of forest birds, conservation, and forest management.
