Join us to get outside and explore the magic of Audubon. Our goal is to support parents and caregivers with children ages birth to 5 in getting outdoors and exploring nature. Research shows positive impacts of spending time in nature on a child's physical, cognitive, and social development. Audubon provides children and families with quality opportunities to directly experience the natural world. Our 255 acres of forest, meadow, beaver pond, rivers, and peeper pond offer the perfect space to play and interact with other families and the outdoors.
When: MONDAY Mornings from 9:30 - 11 am. (Please plan to arrive on time as we will be walking around our trails)
NOTE, Playgroup will NOT meet on the following dates, but you are always welcome to explore the center on your own:
- 12/23: Winter Break
- 12/30: Winter Break
Who: Children ages birth to 5 years old. Parents and/or caregivers must accompany. Sorry, no older siblings.
Where: Through the winter, starting on December 2nd, we will be meeting by the Education Barn at 255 Sherman Hollow Rd in Huntington. While we will still spend a majority of the time playing outdoors, this will provide us with a warm indoor space to use as needed.
What to Expect: We will do a short walk to a fun location on our property where we will play and explore, often in connection to a seasonal theme. After an hour or so we will end our morning with a bring-your-own snack and a read-aloud story.
What to Bring: This is a nature playgroup! Every week we will likely get wet, muddy, and dirty. We recommend clothing and footwear that can withstand the nature-loving tendencies of your little one. Also, bring any water or snacks you may need. We do not have running water by our sugarhouse.
Registration: Registration is not required! Simply show up and join us whenever you can. We will leave a note on the kiosk map of where we are headed so if you arrive late, you will know where to find us. If you would like to give us your email, you can do so
Cancellation Plan: If we need to cancel the playgroup we will post a notice on our social media, here on this webpage, and email those folks who have given us their contact information.
