Nature Detectives

Preschool Nature Camp, July 8-12

This week we put on our detective caps and used our skills to discover all of the hidden wonders of nature!

Monday we went down to forest camp to explore the different parts of a bird! We then learned how animals walk, hop, waddle, and bound. In the afternoon. we had a puppet show and went to mossy rocks, where we got to play and explore. Before going home we made our own animals prints on a big sheet all together.

On Tuesday, we spent the morning down at the brook and explored what kinds of bugs live there. Then we had a long, hot hike back up before eating lunch. After lunch we played bug bingo and tried finding as many bugs as we could all around the nature center at Audubon.

Hoping for a somehwat dry day on Wednesday, we went for a long salamander hike in the morning and found red efts and red backed salamanders. After our hike we had snack at forest camp before exploring and looking for more slamanders and newts. After lunch, we created our own salamanders out of popsickle sitcks and pipe cleaners. We then went back to forest camap to build houses for the salamanders we had just made.
