Unfortunately due to high winds we were not able to meet on Monday, but Sarah, Ciara and I are anxiously awaiting next Monday to enjoy spring in Vermont with our Monday Forest Playschool group.
Friday 3/26
With thunderstorms in the forecast we thought it would be safest to move things to the Bird of Vermont Museum! We always have a wonderful time exploring this new location.
Today’s weather was perfect for amphibians to start moving around. As we arrived we participated in a leaf litter search and turned over every stump and rock that we could! We did had success right away and found a very small red backed salamander! Very exciting.
Erin, who works at the Birds of Vermont Museum hinted to me that we should take a hike up to the pond. We did just that and to our surprise out on the ice were a couple of eastern newts!
After all this excited we went inside to dry off and enjoyed morning meeting and snack and story. Once we were fueled up we were ready to head back outside.
We journeyed to find 30 hidden turkey pictures in the woods, and found them all!
Then we went on a little hike to this clearing and we enjoyed some free play and the rain started to pour down on us hard. We tried to stay out as long as we could, and soon it was time for us to move inside to color and have lunch.
At lunch we celebrated a friend’s Birthday who was turning 5 with some tasty gluten free cupcakes with homemade icing.
After our yummy lunches we finished our day outside searching for more amphibians! I hear something that sounded like a quack, and when I looked out back to the little pond by the bird feeders to my surprise we saw wood frogs!
What a wonderful Friday this was!
