Today was the first day of snow at Forest Playschool! We were so excited that we started the day outside. There were shovels and sleds for us to use, and in no time we made an awesome sledding hill. It didn’t take long for us to learn new tricks for sledding faster and farther!
After putting away our sleds we went to morning meeting. The day’s morning meeting leader knew we loved playing in the fresh snow outside and decided to spend the rest of the morning shoveling, sledding, and having tons of fun!
After we finished sledding, it was time for a winter hike up to Lookout Rock. The beautiful view of the snow-capped Green Mountains was a slightly different view than we saw a few weeks ago! At the top, some of us became tigers and catamounts and left our tracks in the hilltop forest. We rolled down some of the hills on the way back.
Once we got back, it was time to warm up in the Education Barn. The wood stove made the barn nice and warm, and it was a perfect spot to eat lunch and listen to a story. However, the snow was so much fun that we went outside again after warming up and eating. By this time, we were expert sledders and had a great time impressing our friends by going “super speed style”.
We ended the day playing in the snow and talking about the excitement and fun to be had in the days ahead. At Audubon, the first snow always means the start of a new season of adventure! We can’t wait to come back and see what’s in store.
