Meet up at Perkins Pier parking lot
LGBTQIA++ hikers are headed to Burlington's Waterfront to take in spectacular lake views, learn about rewilding urban spaces, and enjoy Burlington Bay's famous creemees! All ages and allies welcome! If you are under 18, please come with an adult.
On July 8th from 1-3pm, we will walk along the Burlington Waterfront trails and bike path. Pride Hikers will meet at Perkins Pier parking lot and head north down the path to Audubon's Plants for Birds Garden near Texaco Beach. From there, we will loop back on the path and stop at Burlington Bay for creemees! Depending on how crowded Burlington Bay is, we will either enjoy our creemees on their deck or down on the Waterfront grass picnic-style. Folks who do not want to join for creemees are welcome to continue down the path back to Perkins Pier. Non-dairy options are also available!
Please wear weather appropriate clothing! This can be a hot time of day - hats and sunscreen are a great idea! Water is a must - we can refill at Burlington Bay if needed.
Pride Hikes are a collaboration between Audubon Vermont, the Pride Center of Vermont, and Outright Vermont. Pride Hikes have been happening every month since June of 2018 and go beyond being "welcoming to everyone" to creating a safe, affirming space for LGBTQIA++ community members.
Trail information: Paved, flat multiuse trail along Lake Champlain. We will walk a total of ~2.5 miles. This trail is very wheelchair friendly. Leashed dogs welcome!
Parking Information: Free parking at Perkins Pier is TBD. You can park here, but understand that it is metered. Otherwise, there is plenty of free parking along Maple and King Street or additional paid parking on Main Street.
