Bird Banding and Habitat Restoration at Charlotte Park and Wildlife Refuge

September 30, 2024 - Charlotte, VT

From 8am to 11am on September 30th you can walk up to the Byington Trail in the Charlotte Park & Wildlife Refuge to see Mark LaBarr from Audubon Vermont banding birds. He will be collecting data on how birds are using the habitat areas we have been managing for the past year. The CP&WR Oversight Committee will also be working with our habitat restoration crew to cut and treat invasive species. We will be happy to answer questions and explain the strategies we have used to improve the habitat for the Golden -Winged and Blue-winged Warblers, considered Species of Greatest Conservation Need in Vermont and a high priority species across their range. The work has been done with the support of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, donations from community members and volunteers.
