LGBTQIA2S+ hikers and allies will gather at Indian Brook Reservoir in Essex, Vermont. The park is 740-acres of mixed hardwood and deciduous forest with a 2-mile trail loop around the 60-acre reservoir. Many birds, mammals, and fish call this place home - beavers often take refuge in the reservoir waters. The trails are mostly wide and easy with a few narrow sections and rocks. There are benches scattered throughout the trail for vitas and rest. We will hike the 2-mile loop and stop at the tent platforms to take a break and enjoy some warm cider.
LGBTQIA++ and allies of all ages welcome! If under 18, please come accompanied by an adult.
From Essex Parks and Recreation: Dogs will be required to be on-leash unless in designated off-leash areas on the trails. Even in these places, dog owners are expected to leash their dogs or communicate with other park users before any dog-to-person or dog-to-dog interactions occur.
Trail conditions: Wide, mostly flat crushed rock or compacted dirt. There are one or two sections where we will walk single file to cross narrow bridges or stepping stones. Trails may be wet after recent rain or icy after a freeze. Audubon Vermont will communicate about gear as we get closer to the event.
Parking: There is ample parking. We will meet in the larger lower lot, here is the Google Maps pin.
