Fall Fun!

Oct 4 2022

Fall is upon us at Audubon! Our morning activity was collecting 5 different leaves and then doing a leaf rubbing with paper and crayons, they came out sooooo cool! We had the additional challenge to try and identify our leaves too.

During the day we found some fun critters, wooly bears, salamanders, the TINIEST salamander ever, and more!

With all of the rain these past few weeks the brook was full of water. We experimented with sending things down the brook to see how fast they could travel. We started with leaves, and then moved on to wood and rocks. This then turned into us building boats and racing them down the brook too. It was fun watching the boat launches.

In the afternoon we tried shelter building. We divided into groups and discussed plans, we drew out a blueprint and got to work. Using sticks, branches, leaves, and more we built some impressive shelters. We had some pretty interesting conversations about what makes for a strong structure and how to find a strong tree or branch.
