Yay for May

May 2 2023

After not seeing everyone the week prior due to April Vacation, it was great to have everyone make observation about how the space was changing. There was more grass, more green plants, trees had larger leaves, etc. Since we were so observant this morning we had an animal home scavenger hunt. We found homes in trees, in the ground, nests, forts, etc.

In the morning every students was given a bird that a member of the Audubon Vermont staff had picked out. Then we had to try and draw them and replicate the birds on our own way. These bird picture would then be used in a game for the public to try and guess what bird it was to bring awareness to our staff Birdathon. Every student learned something new about their bird too!

After we finished drawing all of the birds we went outside and had a little leaf litter scavenger hunt. We looked under leaves and logs to see what critters we could find.

After lunch we learned a new skill, identifying bird calls. We played our bird song game, where all the students are given cards with a picture of a bird and the birds song mnemonic. Then we play the songs on our tablet and everyone has to figure out which bird it is!

How you can help, right now
