Springtime Journey

May 16 2023

All the grass is looking bright green and the equally bright yellow dandelions fill the fields. In the morning we were crafting with cardboard. We each got to draw something that would need yellow, and then we picked dandelions to fill in the yellow space. Some of us made suns, birds, landscapes, dogs, etc. They all came our great!

With the plants growing back in the woods we really wanted to play camouflage!  There were so many other places to hide and help us blend in.

Mark LaBarr, a Conservation Biologist with Audubon Vermont had a specially treat for us! He put up a mist net in the woods, a tool used to catch birds to then band for research and tracking data of that bird. He brought over an American Robin for us to see up close what was already banded and then we got to see him release it!

After seeing the Robin we went to Beaver Pond to explore and area, made some dams, found critters, and enjoyed the sunshine.

In the afternoon we went on a bird walk up to the office. On our walk we saw a yellow warbler, chestnut sided warbler, American robin, and a Blue Jay.
