Spring has Sprung

April 4 2023

The snow has almost all melted and the ice is thawing away too. In the morning to celebrate it finally looking like spring we had to find 10-15 signs of spring and write or draw them in our notebook. We noted that the snow was melted, there was mud and the ground was getting soft, buds were growing on trees, birds were starting to sing more, etc.

After our morning meeting and planning our day together we enjoyed our snack. With it being spring we wanted to check our Beaver Pond to see how it was different from last week. We were able to bring nets and had our first day of scooping for critters!

In the afternoon we build some boats and went to the Sherman Hollow Brook to sail them down. We used bark, sticks, leaves, and other natural items to make our boats. Most of the floated, but only a few sailed down.

As we walked back half of the group saw the sugaring team was out and wanted to help, while the other half wanted to go back and explore Beaver pond some more. We collected sap and critters as a wrap of our day
