Sledding and Fort building

Week 3: January 19, 2022

This has been a cold January but that doesn’t stop us from exploring and seeing the winter world around us.

As we arrived our first task was to journal about our object in our notebook. This will be so cool to look back on in May to see how our world changes around us. By focusing on one item, we can really make key observations about our climate and our space.

After snack we hiked up to the barn to build some snow shelters and sledding. This was something we discussed doing last week but we ran out of time. We all started off building our snow shelter. The first step is that you need to build a mound of snow that settles and then dig it out once it is solid. While we waited for us show pile to settle some of us dug out tunnels in our plow made piles and others took a sledding break. Oh the joys of winter!

After a great amount of time we finally dug out our snow pile and made a brilliant snow tunnel! It was so much fun to work together and plan where the best place to start was.

After all this hard work we got very hungry and needed to head down to the clubhouse for lunch! After lunch and reading Hoot, we enjoyed some free time before our families came to pick us up.

How you can help, right now
