Hootin' and Howlin'

June 24 -28 2019

SUMMER CAMP IS HERE AT AUDUBON WOOHOO!

This week is the first Ecology Day Camp of the season, Hootin' and Howlin', and so far it has been a HOOT!

We have done so much this week already; it's been great to explore Audubon in the rain and shine.

This week we have been focusing on learning about predators and prey in Vermont.  We played a lot of camouflage all over the sugarbush practicing being stealthy in the woods not being seen, but also having the chance to focus and concentrate on what we see in the woods and find our fellow campers.

All week we have been building shelters and creating our own wild community with stores and other systems in place!

Every day we end our time together playing Poison Dart Frog, be sure to ask your camper(s) how to play!

We have spent a lot of time in and around the water areas of Audubon as well.  We built some wonderful boats by the river, found tadpoles and water striders at the brook, and even saw a painted turtle lay its eggs by Beaver Pond (be sure to check back in about a month when they hatch)!

Games in the sugarhouse field are always an incredible time! From playing Park Ranger running across the field, to Cat and Mouse trying to run and not be caught before tagging a new mouse.

On our rainy Tuesday, we investigated some owl pellets!  We found skulls and teeth from rodents like mice, shrews and rats!

This camp has been full of joy and exploration!  Audubon Summer Camp is the best!
