First Day of the Season!

September 6, 2022

ur fall session has started and we couldn't be more excited to see what this year has in store for us! The special thing about this program is that it is student lead program, they bring their ideas and plan out our entire day.

Today being out first day, we spent a lot of time getting to know each other and Audubon too. For some of us this was our first day at the center, for others this was the 6th year at Audubon in some way.

We began our day planning it. We gathered together for Morning Meeting and discussed and voted on the places to go and the things to explore. After snack we chose to go on a property hike so that our friends who know the area and share some special spots of Audubon. On our hike we counted of 30 red efts! After the hike we voted on a place to explore in the afternoon. We all wanted to go to the same place, The Sherman Hollow Brook.

Before exploring the Brook, we made nature notebooks that we will use in the weeks that follow.

At the Brook we found critters, explores the rushing water, and climbed around.

What an amazing first day!
