Forest Classroom

Beaver Pond Ice

Week 7: February 16, 2022

The snow seems to be with us for good. Every week it seems that we are able to find something great to do in the snow at Audubon.

After writing in our journals and checking to see if our predictions about the snow were correct we enjoyed some free snow play. It is so wonderful to see everyone play and be together here on Wednesdays.

During morning meeting we discussed about going to Beaver Pond but also altered us to the fact that the pond might not be super frozen and we might be on the edge. Ciara and I always check the ice before the students go out on it, we test it and see how thick it is.

There were some not super snow icy patches that we visible that we ice skated on. We all have so much fun moving our bodies on the ice and working together to make sure we each had a turn to enjoy it. Others enjoyed creating a shop out of the beaver blind and making some yummy treats and “cooking” together.

We then walked back to the clubhouse to fuel up with lunch and water. Ciara read HOOT to us as usual and we learned about the ground owls.

Never a dull day at Forest Classroom. Can’t wait to see what March has to bring to us!
