This may be our shortest week of camp, but it doesn’t feel like it!
We wandered, investigated, explored, and experimented out in nature and it was a blast!
Monday we spent time building the basics in outdoor survival! We started to work on our fantastic shelters, practiced building fires, and spent some wonderful time at the Huntington River.
Tuesday we were full of energy, ready to take on the challenge of hiking up Camels Hump! We all made it up with smiles on our faces. Some of our groups sang songs up to the top, others counted slugs, and a few told stories and bonded all the way up to the summit! The view was INCREDIBLE! We had beautiful weather, and even though it was buggy on the way down, we made it!
The campout was a great time as well. We roasted s’mores over the fire, set up our tents, and when it got dark enough, caught fireflies in the Sugarhoue field, some of us had never experiences fireflies before too!
Wednesday we were tired and slow waking up, but we had breakfast around our campfire and told stories. We ended our camp week with an Audubon tradition, Life and Death in the Forest! If you haven’t heard about it from your camper(s), be sure to ask!
We couldn’t have asked for better weather this week! WE ARE SURVIVORS!
