Maddy Kokot (she/her)

Conservation Field Specialist AmeriCorps Member

Maddy grew up near Boston, and enjoyed camping and hiking in Vermont on the weekends. She recently graduated from American University with a B.A in Environmental Studies. While studying, she spent a few semesters abroad in Panama and Wales where she was able to explore various ecosystems and gain experience working with various species, including birds! After graduating she took a job in Colorado working with the US Forest Service on the Amphibians and Fisheries crew. In this position she worked with boreal toads, macroinvertebrates, and trout. She discovered her passion for restoration work, especially within riparian habitats and farmland. After completing her field work in Colorado, Maddy spent a few months traveling in New Zealand and Australia, visiting family and working on regenerative farms. Since returning she has moved to Burlington, Vermont and is excited to be working with birds again! In her free time Maddy loves backpacking, cooking, farming, skiing, reading and listening to music!
