Kate joined us as an UnSchool-at-Audubon mom in 2019. Kate observed the wonder of her son’s Audubon’s experience searching for owl pellets and examining their components, mouse bones and all. This is where she saw her son flourish in the outdoors, while making good buddies.
Currently, Kate is one of our Policy Interns, where she too flourishes in the outdoors, while learning and making good buddies. Her research and writing relates to developing paths for farmers and other land stewards to obtain non-traditional financing towards sustainable agriculture.
Kate will be graduating this spring with a JD, ’23 and MA Restorative Justice, ‘20 from Vermont Law School. Her research has focused on Indigenous law and rights in Vermont’s higher education institutions, environmental justice in community infrastructure in Vermont, and corporate/non-profit law for VT small businesses. Kate also serves as Advocacy Director for the National Disabled Law Students Association. As a grass roots lobbyist, she has helped pass pregnancy and lactation rights laws in Congress and in New Hampshire.
Formerly a long-time North Conway, NH resident, Kate moved to Strafford, VT in 2018, where she lives with her family, including their canines ‘Bama Belle and Beau, Juice and Jango.
