Devan Kajah

Priority Bird Species Conservation Intern

Growing up in Vermont, Devan was always outside exploring the rivers nearby or checking the swamp in her backyard to see if the Great Blue Herons had returned. Watching the trees grow their brilliant green leaves, smelling the lilacs, and hearing the spring peepers chorus echo through her house in the spring made it her favorite season. When she came to the University of Vermont, the signs of spring, especially the returning birds, made enduring the winter worthwhile. Hearing the birds on campus is what sparked her newfound love for the avian world. Devan is currently pursuing a degree in Natural Resources Ecology and Place-Based Education at the University of Vermont and hopes to continue working in the conservation world after graduation this coming year. This summer, Devan is excited to be working with the Green Mountain Audubon Center alongside the Golden and Blue-winged Warblers and looks forward to visiting the terns, hard hat and all!
