Thank you to the Yoga Roots instructors for volunteering their time, to the yoga community for their yoga practice and generous donations, and to All Souls Interfaith Gathering for hosting the series in a spectacular location.
Every other Sunday from late June through early September, Yoga Roots instructors led all-levels donation yoga classes outdoors, overlooking the mountains and Lake Champlain at All Souls Interfaith Gathering. All proceeds benefited Audubon Vermont. In addition to providing a wonderful yoga experience, this summer series also gave Audubon Vermont the opportunity to open new eyes to Audubon Vermont conservation, education and policy work.
“Karma Yoga is one of our favorite Summer offerings. Supporting Audubon Vermont seemed like a natural fit. What do birding and yoga have in common? Practice, patience and presence!” - Lynn Alpeter, co-owner of Yoga Roots.
“Yoga and nature both feed the soul and cultivate mindfulness. Audubon Vermont is all about connecting people with nature and meeting people where they are at. Birdsong focuses my mind on the moment in a very similar way that breath grounds my yoga practice.” - Gwendolyn Causer, Audubon Vermont Teacher/Naturalist.
"I was fortunate enough to attend the Karma Yoga class this summer at All Souls as both a participant and a teacher. A true gift to be outside surrounded by nature's beauty with the sound of wind and birdsong accompanying the yoga practice. The collaboration with Audubon Vermont, Yoga Roots, and All Souls was an amazing example of how sharing resources for a good cause makes everyone's heart sing!” shares Heidi Kvasnak, co- owner of the Shelburne based Yoga Roots studio.
For more than 100 years, Audubon Vermont has protected birds, wildlife and their habitat through engaging people of all ages in education, conservation, stewardship and action.
