Happy Halloween!

Week 8 October 25th and 27th

This week, we celebrated the spooky season by finding and picking our colorful pumpkin cutouts. We had some pro pumpkin pickers in the group, so they found all thirty-two of our hidden pumpkin cutouts in no time. We loved seeing all of the creative costumes from our students this week!

On Wednesday, once we counted all of our pumpkins, we circled up for our morning meeting. Our morning meeting leader planned out a great day for us! After our morning meeting we gathered our snacks and hiked up to forest camp where our team leader had decided to enjoy our snack, while we listened to a story. After snack, we made our way over to the porch to carve our very own pumpkins. We split into two groups and carved two different pumpkins. One group made a spooky Jack-O-lantern, while the other carved a Cat-O-Lantern. Once we finished carving our pumpkins, we gathered for a group photo to show off our creations. After we were done with our photo op, we hiked back up to forest camp to eat our lunch and enjoy another story. When we finished our story, we cleaned up our lunches and had some exploring time around forest camp. Soon after, we were told of a Snow Queen who was lost in the forest and needed our help to find her way home. After searching for a while, we finally found her lost in the forest, where she asked us for help to find her magical shrunken horse. Our brave volunteers immediately jumped into action to help the Snow Queen find her horse. Once we found her trusty steed, we wrapped up our day and patted ourselves on the back for a job well done.

On Friday our students transformed into some incredible things! Snow White joined us, as well as batman, a carrot, a unicorn, a consrtuction worker, and so many others! After we found all of the pumpkins that were hiding, we then shared what our favorite pumpkin was. We did this by using our words to describe the pumpkin. After morning meeting and snack in our chairs we ventured to Forest Camp where we played! Some of us were climbing our favorite tree, others rode a motorcycle, made some yummy mud kitchen treats too. Before lunch we went on a walk/hike to find treasures! The treasures were leaves that we love and could take them home too! After lunch we ended our time playing our groups favorite game, Sharks and Minnows, as well as circling up for Thank You Circle to share our favorite part of the day.
